Media Player Cannot Play Mpeg
I don't know if it is a virus or if I just have corrupted files. Often there are complaints about sync issues and aspect ratio problems, particularly with Windows Media Player. WinDVD won't play the mpg files either. You can download the codec here (mind you I haven't tested this - I'm just reporting it, since my own codecs work ok and I don't want to mess with them. Good news is, Quicktime, WinDVD, and Divx player all play the mpgs, so I'm not as pissed as before. My primary drive is my F and not my C which most programs automaticly default to. I'd also install VLC player as Whs suggested, simply because it is a wonderul player that will allow you to play just about anything.

Easiest Solution Download and install the VLC player. WMP will play avi's and that's it! it still didnt work ... If they're mpeg-2 could you be using a trial version of some mpeg-2 decoder that just expired? (wild guess) Also sudden stoppage of video playback is often attributed to such things
Are there any work-arounds? THEN I installed WinDVD 5 and Quicktime. WMP 10 works fine now. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.

It is likely that after the installation of such a pack, any video file you want to play will play though and this article doesn't specifically target any particular codec packs. In other words, I had to turn up the volume in WinDVD to hear it on the Divx Player.
