On another forum I had the recommendation to remove the file master.lock and to run an apt-get update, then restart. What is this line of counties voting for the Democratic party in the 2016 elections? There is now no master.lock file, and Postfix still will not start ("postfix status" reports that it is not running after a "postfix start" command). On doing this, the startup error changed to: Apr 28 11:54:34 server postfix/master: fatal: open lock file pid/master.pid: cannot create file exclusively: Permission denied After checking permissions on this new folder, I have the same message regarding inability to open master.lock due to permission denied.
